"Art is not what you see, but what you make others see."
- Edgar Degas
Manoj Menon reinforced this thought in his session at Jain Animation School. In this show and tell session which was held on 12th January, 2013, Menon spoke about how a concept artist must imagine characters the way a common man does and then add his creative touch to it. The session was about the process of character design, visual development, and story creation. Students from different animation institutes attended the session and interacted with Menon. Menon showed that the foundation of animation is basic shapes and how different characters can be created using them. He also gave an insight into designing characters for 3D animation. He gave examples of animation films and series which the students could relate to. He compared animation with feature films and discussed how animation in India has a long way to go but the future looks bright. The session was concluded with a Q and A session which gave the students a better idea of the animation industry in India.
